Approach
When high-functioning burnout sets in…
…the kind that looks fine from the outside but feels hollow underneath - the standard approaches tend to help at the edges without resolving the underlying feeling.
Therapy helps you process. Self-help gives you frameworks. Wellness practices manage the stress. But if something still feels fundamentally off after all of that, it's usually because the root hasn't been reached yet.
That root is often loss or unacknowledged grief after life disruption. Not necessarily a death or an obvious life event, though sometimes that too.
More often it's the everyday, accumulated losses that never got named:
a version of yourself that changed,
a relationship that shifted,
a sense of safety or belonging that secretly disappeared.
These losses don't announce themselves. They show up as emotional and physical exhaustion, irritation, numbness, disconnection, and the persistent sense that something is wrong even when nothing obviously is.
This is what my work addresses. Not just the surface but also the root.
Creating the conditions for real change
Rather than managing symptoms or building better coping strategies, we create the conditions that allow hidden grief to be understood, named, and integrated over time.
This means looking at the whole picture: the emotional patterns and triggers, the physical strain and fatigue, the shifts in identity and values, the everyday habits that hold things in place or make things harder in the background.
When these pieces start to connect, things that felt confusing start to make sense.
And when things make sense, they become understood and you can create strategies to intentionally shift what no longer works or experiment with something new.

The four principles that guide my approach
-
Hidden grief and high-functioning burnout both deplete the nervous system in ways that make deeper work difficult.
Before anything else, we establish enough steadiness, emotionally and practically, so that honest reflection feels possible rather than overwhelming.
This might involve pacing, gentle regulation practices, or small adjustments to daily routines that protect energy and reduce the strain of constant self-management.
-
The emotions that come with hidden grief are rarely simple. Numbness, relief, guilt, anger, longing, and love can all coexist, particularly when losses are complicated, unacknowledged, or never given a name.
This is a space for the full reality of what you're carrying, without pressure to resolve it or perform progress.
Emotions that are allowed rather than suppressed tend to become more workable over time.
-
A significant part of what makes this kind of burnout so disorienting is not understanding why you feel the way you do.
That confusion is often more exhausting than the feelings themselves.
We take time to make sense of what's actually happening, the emotional waves, the coping patterns, the identity shifts, the losses underneath the burnout, so you stop blaming yourself for deeply human responses and start exploring and getting curious about them instead.
-
Understanding what's driving your experience is the beginning, not the end. Forward movement comes through small, repeatable actions rather than dramatic change.
Once the root is clear, we build from there, accepting what is important now, prioritising values-led decisions, creating realistic routines, and practical adjustments that support energy and reduce the weight of daily self-management.
The losses remain part of your story but they stop running the show.
